Ecogrowth extends recycling contract with Farm Waste Recovery
Eco Growth International Pty Ltd has agreed to extend its terms of contract with Farm Waste Recovery as a sign of our continued commitment to the recycling of its bag range.
Joe Bovell, CEO of Eco Growth International Pty Ltd, said, “Our commitment to the Farm Waste Recovery program is an important pillar in our industry stewardship and aligns closely with our values as a company. Not only do we believe in such a program, but we feel an obligation to help push the program forward and increase its national reach. I would like to see the Farm Waste Recovery program extended to all states and that the Federal Government supports the cause with capital funding to fast-track the construction of localised recycling plants”.

Stephen Richards, Managing Director of Farm Waste Recovery, said, “The extension of our collection and recycling agreement with Ecogrowth is a great outcome for farmers and the environment. The commitment from Joe and the Ecogrowth team will enable us to collect their bags and manufacture new products like evaporation suppression discs, solving more than one problem, by using the plastic for as long as possible and therefore reducing the need for virgin plastic being created in the first instance.”
Used fertiliser packaging, particularly large bulk bags predominantly used by the horticulture sector, has largely been exported to Asia for recycling, but is instead finding its way into landfill or being disposed of inappropriately.

About Farm Waste Recovery:
The Farm Waste Recovery service has collected more than 3300 tonnes of plastic since commencing four years ago and will soon come under the new banner, Big Bag Recovery, covering all industries. Recovery is expected to jump dramatically to around 48,000t annually, commensurate with the volume of bags imported into Australia.
The business has mainly exported the bags to Asia and has plans to build a network of regional processing facilities to establish a full-circle recycling industry across the country under its parent, Industry Waste Recovery. The new recycling industry would create hundreds of regional jobs and refine the waste back to a resin before manufacturing various new plastic products.
